Why am I so busy?

I haven’t written much of anything in a few weeks, because I’m so stinkin’ busy. Say what you want about Jive Software good or bad (I like the good, btw - loving all the tweets I see about Clearspace!), but know that we are hopping.
Here are my October stats, during which I worked 19 days [...]

I’ll be in L.A. Oct 22. How about you?

Derek and I will be at the Jive Software Fall Road Show event in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, October 22. If you’re interested, please be sure to register! It’s targeted to folks who care about online communities, and although I’m pretty focused on internal implementations, I plan to chat with attendees about their plans [...]

Making Clearspace look and act a little like Facebook

So, I wrote about an older Facebook plugin for Clearspace a while ago. This has nothing to do with that. This is new, and I do believe, a wee bit cooler. Oh yeah, baby.

Organizing your homepage in Clearspace

What I don’t mention in this video is something Derek pointed out to me: A big reason to follow anyone in Clearspace is so that you can narrow the funnel of stuff that gets pushed to you. The widgets you can place on your homepage help you fine-tune that funnel.

Pass the flour, please

Bake-offs, baby. That’s my thing lately. I’ve only got three on deck, but it seems to be an ever-constant activity, since we basically do the same thing with customers who need to present a customized environment to some powerful stakeholder soon (thanks, @derekdemoro, for pointing that out!)
To me, bake-offs are rife with corporate politics. Ok, [...]

Fixing what’s broken about social software pilots, Part II

Read Part I for context…
After just two weeks of engaging with eight global prospective customers in our NextSteps pilot planning program, here are four of the most salient things we’ve noticed:
#1 We can’t do any planning with you, our prospective customers, until we gain your trust (duh).
Since we offer this on the cheap, and we’re [...]

Fixing what’s broken about social software pilots, Part I

In June, my executive management said, “Gia and Derek, go figure out what’s broken about enterprise social software pilots and fix it. Like, yesterday.”
What’s the problem?
It seems that social software pilots, regardless of the technology chosen, either never achieve flight, or if they do, they plateau soon after all the early adopters jump aboard. They [...]
